Karabakh Frontline Positions, Residential Areas Shelled Overnight, Defense Ministry Says

On the night of 26-27 April, the Azerbaijani side continued intensive shelling towards Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Army frontline positions and along the entire length of contact line with NKR, according to the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Defense.

The Azerbaijani armed forces, the military authority said, fired more than 550 mortar shells, rockets and rocket-propelled grenades towards Karabakh frontline positions and residential areas, including the northeastern towns of Martakert and Nerkin Horatagh. 20-year-old Defense Army soldier Hayk Minasyan was killed as a result.

“To neutralize the enemy offensive operations, Defense Army frontline units took punitive actions and launched targeted strikes [towards Azerbaijani positions], causing the enemy significant losses in manpower and military equipment,” the statement read.
