Armenian Serving in Russian Frontier Troops Found Hanged

31-year-old Armenian citizen Volodya Hovhannisyan was found hanged on November 19 in his house in the village of Gusanagyugh in the country's northwestern Shirak region, the RA Investigative Committee said in a statement.

According to Russian media reports, Hovhannisyan was a contract serviceman of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) frontier department in Armenia.

The border guard is presumed to have committed suicide since “external examination of the body revealed no visible signs of violence,” officials said.

Recall, a similar indicent occurred in March, 2015, when 26-year-old FSB frontier guard Arthur Afyan was found hanged in the Armenian town of Gyumri.
