General Military Investigation Department of the Armenian Investigative Committee has initiated a criminal case into the murder of a soldier Haykaz Barseghyan by a group of individuals at a Yerevan military training unit. According to an official statement made yesterday by the Ministry of Defense, Barseghyan’s corpse was found hanging at the sportsground of the military training unit.
As noted in the Investigative Committee’s statement, the corpse was found yesterday at approximately 6:30AM. The investigators who arrived at the site, inspected it, and with the materials gathered initiated a criminal case based on point 7 of Article 104.2 of the Armenian Criminal Code (murder by a group of people or by an organized group).
No one has been arrested in relation to the case. In the official statement it states that forensic experts have been appointed and they are implementing means to determine the individuals responsible for the crime.
