Armenian Government Agrees to Partially Subsidize Gas Consumed by Needy Families

The Government of the Republic of Armenia today approved a package that will provide partial compensation for natural gas supplied to needy families in Armenia payable to Gazprom Armenia.

The first part of the decision proposes ArmRusGazprom (which was renamed Gazprom Armenia on February 24, 2014) for the period of April 1 to July 6, 2013, to collect payments for 75 cubic meters of gas at the reduced tarriff price approved by the Armenian Public Services Regulatory Commission of 100,000 AMD for 1,000 cubic meters of gas from families that are eligible for family allowance.

According to the second part of the decision, ArmRusGazprom has to be compensated the difference in the price constituting 32,000 AMD for 1,000 cubic meters of gas (for 75 cubic meters of gas per needy family) at the expense of the profit arising from the upgrades, optimization, and reform of the state electrical power companies.
