Armenian Villager Who Hit a Land Mine Severed his Foot: Source

Resident of the village of Haghtanak, Tavush marz (province), Gabriel Babikyan, 49, who stepped on a land mine, was taken to Yerevan after his surgery in a Tavush medical center. This news was conveyed to Epress.am by Berdavan village mayor Ararat Gabrielyan.

"I was in the hospital a little while ago. When I got out, they were already operating on him. I didn't go into the operating room; I don't know exactly what they operated, but [when] we were carrying the injured from the minefield, [I noticed that] Babikyan's right foot was shot off. The other, resident of our village, 56-year-old Rafik Mughdusyan, died on the way to hospital," he said.

Note, the RA Ministry of Defense on April 15 issued a statement [AM] that Babikyan and Mughdusyan stepped on a mine while collecting herbs along the outskirts of the border village of Berdavan.
