No Need for Mediator Between Armenian National Congress and the Authorities: HAK

The Armenian National Congress issued a statement yesterday in which it responded to Armenian Ombudsman Karen Andreasyan’s proposal to act as mediator between the opposition bloc and the ruling authorities:

“1. The Human Rights Defender misunderstood the meaning of dialogue, since the issue refers not to dialogue between the [Armenian National] Congress and the parliamentary [ruling] coalition, but to dialogue between the [Armenian National] Congress and the current authorities.

“2. There is a need for neither an internal nor an external mediator in the format of direct dialogue between the authorities and the [Armenian National] Congress.

“3. And if the authorities consider it appropriate to include the Human Rights Defender in its delegation during negotiations, we have no problem [with that].”
